Online File Sharing Processes
An online file sharing process makes computer files available over a computer network, typically the Internet. File sharing solutions include sending files as email attachments, using an FTP site, and using a web-based service.
Most email messages and FTP sites are not encrypted, while web-based solutions can use SSL to protect files while they are sent over the Internet.
Email servers typically limit the size of attachments that can be sent via email, and using an FTP site requires installing and learning how to use FTP software. FTP is also blocked by many corporate firewalls, while web-based solutions offer a familiar interface and can be used from any computer with web access.
